Our editorial guidelines
By Nicola Kemp
We will give you the space, if you give us honesty
Editorial standards. They can mean different things to different people.
At Good Shout, they mean everything.
We are bored with the status quo and we think you are too. Our community is not about empty promises or self-promoting waffle. You won’t read why the latest big thing in business is bullshit here.
We care deeply about building a community that is a force for good. Our contributors sharing honest, thought-provoking practical learnings is key to that. If they don’t deliver that, we don’t publish.
We value the time of our community. Every word has to matter. Get to the point. Our articles are short and our advice is punchy. Every article we publish is a maximum of 300 words long.
The diversity of our contributors is key to us. And we believe every voice deserves to be heard. We don’t really need to talk about inclusion and accessibility, because we live it. We practice it. We can support and help you write and overcome any barriers you may face in contributing to the Good Shout community.
Good Shout is ‘social learning’. We learn and develop together. Our community is open-source by nature and we will listen to your feedback. We promise not to get defensive. Tell us what you are struggling with at work, and with your voice, and the barriers you are facing and we will find the solutions.
We make dreams come true. Seriously! We know how important it is for people to be heard, and our end goal is to celebrate fresh voices of any age, gender, sexuality and brain and give them a prestigious, mainstream platform that can pay back financially, too. Watch this space.
